家书 A Letter Home

A digital (vedio) letter home in the twenty-first century under the pandemic situation 

The project began at a time when Chinese society was at it
s most turbulent in 2022. As a result of the serious 
management of the epidemic over a long period of time, the
shape of society within China began to distort. There was 
an awakening of consciousness among a section of the 
people who longed for freedom and began to rebel. So at 
first my focus was on the epidemic in China, by working 
with friends and family in the country to turn their 
cameras into a mini social microscope. But the direction 
of the project started to change and, contrary to my 
expectations, the footages I got from my friends' families
focused more on their own lives, which made me realise 
that there are people who have always had a passion for 
life, even under strict control. Rather than being an 
answer to my project, these wow footages were more like a 
message from my family and friends, which is why I named 
the film ‘A letter Home’.
